Ever heard the term “hangry?” Yes...yes, you have. Because it’s a real thing that happens to real families on the go. And the key to warding off the hangry-ness is snacks. Remembering to enjoy a healthy bite to eat before you head out—and having grab and go snacks handy in a pinch will make you a hero every time. Here are a few ideas.
Handmade Veggie Crisps
Thinly slice up beets, sweet potatoes and parsnips and toss them with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then bake in the oven at 375 degrees F for about 15 minutes or until crispy. Let cool and serve with Garden Vegetable Hommus for delicious dipping.
Fall Leaf Cheese Plate
Place a dollop of Roasted Red Pepper Hommus onto crackers or tea sandwich-sized bread. Top with cheese cut into fall leaf shapes with cookie cutter and thin red pepper slices.
Muffin Tin Meal
For perfect snack-sized portions, use a muffin tin. Kids will enjoy sprinkling various healthy ingredients into each slot, such as popcorn, slices of fruit and vegetables, crackers and pretzel sticks. Have Avocado Hommus on hand to dip in, too.
