Salsa Burgers

Fire up the grill and get cooking with this fiery burger recipe. Our Medium Salsa and slices of Pepper Jack bring the heat while the tomato and avocado cool things off just enough.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ½ pounds lean (at least 80%) ground beef 
  • ½ cup Cedar’s Medium Salsa
  • ¼ cup plain bread crumbs
  • ¾ cup shredded hot Pepper Jack Cheese
  • 6 burger buns, split, toasted
  • 6 tomato slices 
  • 6 avocado slices 
  • red onion slices, to top
  • lettuce, to top
Serves 6 Total 30-60 Minutes

DIRECTIONS

  1. Heat grill. In medium bowl, mix beef, salsa and bread crumbs. 
  2. Shape mixture into 12 (4-inch) patties, ¼-inch thick. Sprinkle a rounded tablespoon of cheese in the center of 6 patties, spreading slightly. 
  3. Top with remaining patties; press edges together firmly to seal.
  4. Place patties on grill over medium heat. Cover grill. Cook 11 to 13 minutes, turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160-degrees F.
  5. Place burgers on bottom halves of buns. Top each with tomato and avocado slices. If desired, top with additional salsa. Cover with top halves of buns.
