Savory Falafel Waffles

Spare the maple syrup and spread hommus. These savory falafel waffles are the epitome of surprise and delight.


  • 1 can chickpeas, drained
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • ½ cup fresh parsley
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • cooking oil spray
  • Cedar’s Topped Organic Roasted Red Pepper Hommus 
Serves 4 Total 30-60 Minutes


  1. Drain chickpeas.
  2. Pulse all ingredients, except for the hommus, in a food processor until they are coarsely blended, careful not to purée.
  3. Refrigerate batter for an hour.
  4. Preheat non-stick waffle iron and spray with cooking spray.
  5. Scoop batter into waffle iron and cook until crispy.
  6. Serve hot with Cedar’s Topped Organic Roasted Red Pepper Hommus.
