Yareli
A microcredit client of Whole Planet Foundation’s partner in the United States, Grameen America
Yareli lives with her husband and daughter in Miami, Florida, where she used a $2,000 microloan to purchase ingredients like flour, sugar and baking soda to create and sell traditional Honduran pastries and breads. When she’s not pouring her time and energy into her growing business, she’s also the leader of the “Warrior Entrepreneurs,” a local loan solidarity group made up of 25 women.
Maria
A microcredit client of Whole Planet Foundation’s partner in the United States, Grameen America
Maria is the proud owner of Pepe’s Fruit Cup Shop in Austin, Texas, and is thankful for the seven microloans she’s received over the years that have helped it come to fruition. Coming from a long line of restaurant owners, Maria moved to the United States 22 years ago and has worked hard to build and grow her small business, which now includes two locations in Austin, Texas.
Regina
A microcredit client of Whole Planet Foundation’s partner in the United States, Grameen America
A home-baker based out of Harlem, New York, Regina is using her microloans to create “The Best Cookies on Earth Made From the Earth.” Some of her confections include navy bean cookies with dots of blueberry jam, raspberry jam and ginger dipped in milk chocolate and white chocolate.
Leonor
A microcredit client of Whole Planet Foundation’s partner in Mozambique, AfricaWorks
With a microloan of 5,000 Mozambican meticais (about $80.94), Leonor was able to buy more stock for the fruit and vegetable kiosk she’s owned and operated for the last three years. For now, her kiosk includes two tables of bananas and oranges outside of a shop, but she hopes to grow her business enough so that she can one day afford to move into her own shop.
