The Heart of Cedar’s: Our Employees

It’s about time you met! After all, it’s our employees who make it possible to produce over 2 million pounds of hommus each week. From the mixers and pasteurizers who carefully bring our original family recipe to life, to line teams who test, pack and label our products; from technicians, forklift operators and sanitation crews, to team members who drive, deliver and stock store shelves; from our dedicated staff who run our offices, to everyone who keeps them clean — it’s their hard work, and heart, at each and every step ensuring you get to Know Better Hommus. Each month, we will introduce you to member of the Cedar’s family so you can get to know us better.

Tony Nammour

R&D & Purchasing Manager

Tony Nammour has been with the company for 37 years — more than any employee has been with us! We truly consider him family. His first job was in the bakery and pastries department in the 80s, and today he’s a R&D and Purchasing Manager, but we call him our Hommus Connoisseur. His favorite Cedar’s products are Dark Chocolate Hommus and Original Hommus. When he joined Cedar’s in 1983, he never imagined the company could grow to the size that it is now, and we couldn’t have done it without him and our Cedar’s fam. When Tony isn’t working his hommus magic here at Cedar’s, he enjoys traveling.

Ever since we put down roots and started Cedar’s almost 40 years ago, our community has embraced us. Today, we’re committed to giving back to the local communities our employees call home and the communities our consumers care about. Each month, we will highlight a mission or organization we are partnering with to show our commitment to doing better and making a difference in these communities.

Breast Cancer Research Foundation

Selecting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation as Cedar’s Foods’ Cedar’s with Heart first partnership was a quick decision for us. In 2020, we became a partner by donating $50,000 to their vital work. We recognize many of our consumers have been indirectly or directly affected by breast cancer, but what truly hit home for us is we have current employees who are living with breast cancer, employees whose family members are living with breast cancer, employees who have successfully completed treatment and employees we have lost to breast cancer. Once we learned more about BCRF’s mission and efforts, we made a commitment to join them in their mission to put an end to breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research. Look for the pink ribbon on all our 8 oz hommus flavors now through October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Learn more and get involved at BCRF.org.

Aimee Tsakirellis

VP, Marketing

Aimee’s yiayia (grandmother in Greek), Aglaia, passed away in 2013 from breast cancer. Aglaia immigrated to the United States in the 1970s, and worked at Cedar’s in the 1990s making baklava, which was sold in retailers throughout New England.

Bienvenido Mora

Food Prep

Breast cancer has struck twice in Bienvenido’s family. He lost a sister to breast cancer in 2009 and more recently another sister, Argentina, was diagnosed and is currently receiving chemotherapy treatments in the Dominican Republic.
